Family history supports the purchase of the paintings during the owner's great-great-grandparent's European "grand tour" in 1882, and the painting’s subsequent passing down through four generations to the present owner. Warren Chase Merrit 8 panel mural titled, "The History of Paper Making", all signed and dated 1929, oils on canvas laid down on wood panels.
