Buying at Auction

Auctions

Preview times are Friday prior to the auction, from Noon until 8 PM and Saturday, the morning of the auction from 8 AM until 10 AM. Saturday auctions will start at 10 AM. Items are sold at a rate of about 100 each hour.

All lots for all auctions are illustrated in color on our website approximately one week before our auctions. Bidding for the auctions is done live, absentee and by phone in the gallery and both live and by absentee on LiveAuctioneers.com.

Once the auction is over, buyers may take their purchases. NOTE: During Saturday auctions, no item may be taken away until the end of the auction (see Terms and Conditions of Sale).

BIDDING AT THIS AUCTION, WHETHER IN PERSON, BY AGENT, ABSENTEE BID, TELEPHONE, ONLINE OR OTHER MEANS, CONSTITUTES YOUR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT AND ACCEPTANCE OF THESE "CONDITIONS OF SALE".

Absentee Bids

If you are unable to attend the auction, you may use the Absentee Bid Form provided by The San Rafael Auction Gallery or download it here: Absentee Bid Form.  Following your instructions, The San Rafael Auction Gallery will act on your behalf to try to purchase the lot(s) of your choice for the lowest price possible and never more than the top amount of your bid. The San Rafael Auction Gallery will not be held responsible for errors, or the inadvertent failure to execute bids.  Absentee bidding, a free service, handled in the strictest confidence, allows you to participate the day of the auction without being present.  See Absentee Bid Form or ask a staff member for details.  All of the Terms and Conditions of Sale apply to absentee bidding. The Buyer's Premium for absentee and in-house bidding is 17.5%. See the Terms and Conditions more information.

Phone Bidding

For selected lots, a limited number of bidders may bid live by telephone. Phone bidding is set up on a first-come, first-served basis, and must be set up at least 24 hours in advance of the sale. The San Rafael Auction Gallery will not be held responsible for errors, or the inadvertent failure to execute bids. Please call (415) 457 4488 for more information. All of the Terms and Conditions of Sale apply to Phone bidding.  The Buyer's Premium for phone bidding is 17.5%. See the Terms and Conditions for more information.

Online Bidding

Register on www.liveauctioneers.com for our auctions. You can bid live in real time during the auction or leave an absentee bid.  All of the Terms and Conditions of Sale apply to online bidding. The Buyer's Premium to bid online is 20%. See the Terms and Conditions for more information.
