You Can Bid Live Online
All of our auctions occur in house and online. Our auctions can be viewed approximately 10 days prior to an auction through our online provider, Live Auctioneers. First time bidders will need to create a free Live Auctioneers account to bid with us online.
Selling at Auction
The San Rafael Auction Gallery can offer you a secure, timely, and confidential way to realize strong prices for your antiques, furniture, fine art, jewelry, silver and heirlooms.
We hold six Fine Estates Auctions and a Maritime Auction throughout the year. Each of these auctions will have hundreds of items belonging to a variety of individuals, families, museums, antique dealers and estates. Payments are made thirty days after the auction.
Call for an Appointment. We will talk to you about your items and discuss strategies for getting the highest prices.
Schedule an Evaluation. Our experts will be happy to give you a free no obligation market price evaluation.
Email or Mail Evaluations. You can now try using our consignment inquiry page, mail or email photographs of your objects along with your personal contact information. Additional photos of object details or the reverse of a painting is helpful. The better the quality, the more accurate the estimate will be. After we receive the photographs, we will contact you regarding our estimates and any questions we may have.
Consign Your Property. When you consign your property you will sign a sales agreement contract. We will provide you with a detailed inventory and schedule your property for an appropriate upcoming sale. Leave the rest to us.
Insurance, Research, Cataloging, Photography and Marketing. These details are free when handled by the San Rafael Auction Gallery and are part of your consignment agreement. We have no hidden charges.
Promotion. The San Rafael Auction Gallery maintains a large updated mailing list that receives fully illustrated color brochures approximately ten days to two weeks prior to an auction. We have local, national and international buyers & collectors as well as thousands of regular buyers & collectors through the internet. Our sales are promoted in national trade publications, local media and on the internet. All lots for all auctions are illustrated in color on the internet through LiveAuctioneers.com approximately one week before our auctions. Bidding for all of the auctions is live, absentee and by phone at San Rafael Auction Gallery. Bidding is also live and by absentee in real time on LiveAuctioneers.com. When items are posted prior to the auction on LiveAuctioneers.com, they are exposed to millions of members that are buyers, dealers & collectors around the globe.
Auction Day. Auctions are held in our San Rafael Gallery at 634 5th Avenue, San Rafael, California. Open to the public, they are a fun, casual and educational way to add to a collection or furnish a home.
Fulfillment. Payment and a detailed listing of sales prices are mailed 30 days after the auction.
Fee. Our Fee is generally 15 to 30 percent depending upon the value of the object consigned. Our consignment fee is a flat percentage of the sale price of each lot that includes all of the costs associated with the auction such as photography, insurance, advertising, etc., with no hidden or additional charges.
Purchase. We are also happy to discuss the purchase of an individual item or entire estate.
